History of EVE

Our Beginnings

In April 2012, a team of 11 women from the lower mainland in BC, traveled to the communities of Seje and Kakamega in  Kenya to facilitate community education workshops on Interpersonal Violence. The team consisted of women who worked at Abbotsford Regional Hospital (SANE) or were associated with them.

The SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners) team spent a year planning and developing workshops for community leaders and schools.  We learned a lot of valuable lessons that first trip.

1.  We didn't know what we were doing but we were able to adapt.

2.  Community leaders when empowered can change their communities future.

3.  A difference made in one persons life has a ripple affect and can affect whole communities.

4.  We never dreamed that 14 years later,  EVE would still be active and growing.

We provide focused training to community leaders and children around the topic of Interpersonal Violence (including recognition, prevention and support.  Our hope is to empower a way of thinking where Interpersonal violence is no longer commonplace.
