Want to join the EVE team?

IMPORTANT INFORMATION TO KNOW FOR PROSPECTIVE APPLICANTS

Applicants are not required to have prior experience or training.  You will be provided with education to increase your knowledge of the dynamics of Interpersonal Violence.

We accept applications from both men or women.   Due to the nature of our discussions, this team might not be appropriate for children under the age of 17 years.

We also accept participation from anyone who may not  be able to join travel teams but wish to attend fundraising meetings.

The EVE team is not affiliated with any church or religion.  Our field partners, many of the schools we attend and the communities we visit have deep faith and we ask that team members be respectful and open to participating in religious ceremonies.

Team members are encouraged to abstain or have minimal social media contact with home during the trip.  This allows you to fully immerse yourself in the experience without worrying about what is happening "back home".  Depending on where we are located, we may have limited access to WIFI.

Prior to the trip you will participate in a training session on Cultural Sensitivity. You will also be provided with reading literature relating to local customs including acceptable clothing when working in communities.

Team members safety is our priority.   Our leaders are provided with safety training through our partner "Hungry for Life International", who arranges all travel and in country room and board.

Every team member is expected to participate in fundraising for special projects. You will be provided with fundraising tools/suggestions including personal fundraising letters.

Team members are responsible to raise their own support for travel expenses. Trip costs range between $3000 - $5000. This covers all expenses flight, accommodation, meals, and transportation.

The months leading up to the trip we  have regular (monthly) meetings. It is a requirement that you attend all meetings and actively participate in educational opportunities. If you are unable to attend in person, we can arrange you to attend by Zoom/Teams.

Health/Fitness considerations - The team will be living and working in communities that do not have the same medical facilities that we enjoy in Canada.  It may not be appropriate for persons with unstable health care issues. It is also an expectation that team members are able to walk on rough or uneven terrain.

Prepare to be challenged physically, emotionally and spiritually.
